Relative High School Completion Rates in Appalachia, 2013–2017

A high school completion rate is the percentage of persons ages 25 and over with a high school diploma or more. The percent of the U.S. average is computed by dividing the county high school completion rate by the national average and multiplying by 100. The map uses critical breaks such as the national average to organize the data into groups of common values.

This map shows the high school completion rate of persons ages 25 and over in each of the ARC counties, as a percentage of the U.S. average. The Appalachian rates range from 66.7% to 108.2% of the U.S. average. The U.S. average is 87.3%. The Appalachian average is 86.4%. For a list of county data by state, see the downloadable Excel file.
