AACC to Host November 5 Webinar for Appalachian Community Colleges on Registered Apprenticeship Program FundingNovember 2014 |
On Wednesday, November 5, 2014, the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) will hold the first of two webinars to provide information to Appalachian community colleges on the U.S. Department of Labor's Registered Apprenticeship College Consortium (RACC) initiative and anticipated upcoming funding opportunities for Registered Apprenticeship programs.
Administered by the U.S. Departments of Labor and Education, the RACC is a national network of postsecondary institutions, employers, unions, and associations working to create opportunities for Registered Apprenticeship program graduates to further enhance their skills by completing an associate's or bachelor's degree. The Department of Labor is expected to make up to $100 million available to support Registered Apprenticeship programs.
With recent grant support from ARC, AACC is working to assist Appalachian community colleges in creating apprenticeship programs that help lead to workforce and economic development opportunities. Representatives from AACC, ARC, and the Department of Labor will participate in the November 5 webinar. After expected funding opportunities are announced by the Department of Labor, AACC will hold a second webinar to support Appalachian colleges in the funding application process. Through AACC, ARC will make available funding assistance to help defray application development expenses.
The November 5 webinar will begin at 2:00 p.m. EST. Participants may participate in the webinar either online or via phone.
