Legislative Update: Senate Approves Continuing Resolution to Fund Government Operations through December 11, 2014

September 2014

On September 18, 2014, the U.S. Senate completed action on legislation (H.J.Res. 124) to continue government operations through December 11. The House of Representatives had passed the bill on September 17. The continuing resolution provides funding for agencies at their FY 2014 level, minus a 0.0554 percent across-the-board reduction. This figure for ARC is approximately $80.3 million. The legislation also continues funding for a program of high-speed broadband deployment in economically distressed counties in Central Appalachia that have been most negatively impacted by the downturn in the coal industry.

The measure now goes to President Obama, who is expected to sign it.
