Appalachian Higher Education (AHE) Network members attending the network's spring 2014 meeting had the opportunity to interact with education experts and representatives from the U.S. Department of Education, the Population Reference Bureau, and Washington-based think tanks. The meeting included presentations from Shonda Goward, founder of First Generation University, who shared resources related to helping first-generation college students graduate; and Doris Terry Williams, executive director of the Rural School and Community Trust, who examined leadership challenges in rural schools.
