Legislative Update: Obama Administration Requests $64.6 Million for ARC for FY 2014

April 2013

On March 10, 2013, the Obama administration proposed a federal budget for fiscal year (FY) 2014 that requests $64.6 million for ARC's community and economic development programs. This amount is a 5 percent reduction from the Commission's FY 2012 funding level and is roughly even with ARC's post-sequester FY 2013 funding. The reduction reflects the administration's continued commitment to building a strong economy in Appalachia while honoring budget constraints required under the Budget Control Act of 2011.

The proposed budget assumes no major policy or programmatic changes for Commission activities. It will now go to Congress for its consideration.
