The fourth annual gathering of the Appalachia Funders Network—a group of public and private grant makers that works to promote an entrepreneurial-based Appalachian economy—was held March 19–21, 2013, in Asheville, North Carolina.

ARC Federal Co-Chair Earl F. Gohl provided remarks at the event, which featured site visits showcasing local development efforts and strategies to develop the food, energy, and health sectors and grow entrepreneurs in Appalachian communities.

The three-day agenda also included a special funding-partnerships meeting on March 19. Themed "A Capital Idea: Creating Funding Partnerships for Rural Entrepreneurs," it offered insight from lenders, angel investors, and practitioners who have created successful models of lending partnerships in Appalachia.
