The Appalachian Diabetes Control and Translation Project (ADCTP), a partnership between ARC, the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Marshall University's Center for Rural Health, is soliciting applications from local diabetes coalitions for two funding opportunities:
- ADCTP's "Together on Diabetes" project will select five existing coalitions to receive $40,000 each year for four years, for a total of $160,000, to implement evidence-based diabetes prevention and control programs that encourage physical activity and healthy eating. The eligibility criteria and application process are outlined in the request for proposals. A conference call will be held on Tuesday, October 23, at 12:00 p.m. EST to answer applicants' questions.
- Eight planning grants of $2,000 each will be awarded to new or emerging coalitions that have not been part of the ADCTP program in the past. The planning grants aim to help establish or strengthen coalitions and can be used for event organization, publicity, and training activities. Marshall University will also provide in-depth planning and technical assistance as part of the award. The eligibility criteria and application process are outlined in the request for proposals. The ADCTP will host a conference call on Tuesday, October 23, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST to describe the funding opportunity and answer questions.
Applications for both opportunities are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012. Awardees will be announced in December.
Questions on the funding opportunities can be directed to the Marshall University contacts listed in the requests for proposals, or to ARC health program manager Eric Stockton at estockton@arc.gov or 202.884.7752.
