On October 11, 2012, ARC and the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health held a roundtable discussion with stakeholders in the diabetes prevention community in West Virginia, including health professionals and representatives of state and other agencies. Roundtable speakers included Ann Albright, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Division of Diabetes Translation, who provided information about CDC's National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP). Other speakers briefly provided their perspective on diabetes prevention and the National DPP. The group then held open discussion on the opportunities and challenges of deploying this and other primary prevention activities in West Virginia. The roundtable concluded with a brief discussion of potential next steps for pursuing prevention activities.
