Staff of ARC-supported Appalachian Higher Education (AHE) Network centers—state-based programs designed to increase postsecondary education attainment—will meet April 22–25 in Washington, D.C., for professional development activities. At this members-only gathering, representatives from the U.S. Department of Education's rural and college-going initiatives will provide information about federal resources available to support the AHE Network centers' work, and a training session conducted by the Foundation Center will offer insights on approaching corporate and foundation funding sources.

About the Appalachian Higher Education Network
The mission of the AHE Network is to increase postsecondary education access and success in Appalachia. Created in 1998, the AHE Network is currently composed of nine centers in nine states: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. The centers serve as clearinghouses of information and providers of services to eligible schools. Schools that have worked with the centers have seen dramatic increases in the number of graduates enrolling in postsecondary education immediately following high school.
