Ohioan Bob Proud, Clermont County Commissioner, Receives 2012 Donald R. Myers Humanitarian Award

March 2012

WASHINGTON, March 26, 2012—Clermont County (Ohio) Commissioner Bob Proud was chosen by the Development District Association of Appalachia (DDAA) to receive the 2012 Donald R. Myers Humanitarian Award, presented at the DDAA's annual conference held March 18–20 in Arlington, Virginia.

The award was created by the DDAA in 2009 in memory of Donald Myers, who was the executive director of the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association and president of the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance. Known as a dedicated public servant and champion of the people of Appalachia, Myers exemplified the humanitarian spirit the award was created to recognize and honor.

Proud was cited for his "exemplary efforts to provide support and assistance to the families of members of the U.S. Armed Services from Clermont County, Ohio." Proud founded the Whole in My Heart military support group, which provides assistance to the families and friends of deployed troops and has strengthened the bonds of care between military families and the community.

The DDAA is a membership organization of local development districts (LDDs) in the Appalachian Region. The DDAA works to strengthen LDDs and their member governments and to provide leadership to support the Appalachian Regional Commission's federal-state-local partnership.
