Appalachian Diabetes Control and Translation Project to Sponsor Diabetes Coalition Conference March 27-30, 2012

March 2012

The Appalachian Diabetes Control and Translation Project (ADCTP) is sponsoring its fourth diabetes coalition conference in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 27-30, 2012. The conference, "Diabetes Coalitions Celebrating Success," will provide a forum for diabetes coalitions throughout the Appalachian Region to share information and best practices with each other and will help enhance the skills of diabetes coalition leaders to mobilize community efforts to address the issue of diabetes. Conference events will include skills-building sessions on topics such as chronic disease self-management, community mobilization, and work-site wellness.

The ADCTP is a partnership supported by ARC, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation, with the collaboration of the 13 Appalachian states. It is managed by the Robert C. Byrd Center for Rural Health at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.

For more information on the conference, contact ADCTP project coordinator Shelia Plogger at splogger@marshall.edu or 304.245.6018.
