Online Edition of the Encyclopedia of Appalachia is Launched

The University of Tennessee Press has launched the online edition of the Encyclopedia of Appalachia, a comprehensive work on the Appalachian Region. The online edition currently includes information on music in Appalachia and will expand to include a total of 30 sections covering the Region's history, land, people, economics, cultural traditions, and institutions.

The print edition of the encyclopedia was published in March 2006 by the Center for Appalachian Studies and Services at East Tennessee State University. It contains over 2,000 entries edited by scholars recognized in their fields.
