Legislative Update: President Obama Signs FY 2011 Funding Legislation

April 2011

On April 15, 2011, President Barack Obama signed legislation funding government activities through September 30, 2011 (P.L. 112-10: Department of Defense and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2011). The measure provides $68.4 million for ARC's nonhighway programs, from which an across-the-board cut of 0.2 percent must be taken, yielding a net total of $68,263,200. Congress will now consider funding for FY 2012, which begins on October 1. The president's FY 2012 budget proposes $76 million for ARC.

On March 4 the president signed legislation (P.L. 112-005, the Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2011) that extends funding for federal highway programs, including the Appalachian Development Highway System, at FY 2010 levels through September 30.
